The starting point

Something seems to be the case

You seem to be here, in a world, among other people.

There seems to be a past behind this moment and a future ahead. Things seem to continue when they are no longer present. Other people seem to exist elsewhere. You seem to be someone moving through all of it.

None of this usually appears as a theory. It simply seems to be the way things are.

The inquiry begins by checking.

What is actually here? What can actually be found? Does what seems completely obvious remain so certain when it is examined?

The inquiry

It already seems completely known

What is here does not appear vague or incomplete.

There seems to be a world. Near and far. Here and elsewhere. Other people. A past. A future. Continuity. Meaning. Someone here in the middle of it.

It all seems completely established.

That is what we examine.

We look at what is actually here and see whether what seems so obvious can actually be found.

The yoga

There is nothing to accept

This work does not depend on agreeing with a description of reality.

Something seems to be the case. We look at it directly.

What is actually here? What can actually be found? Does what seems certain remain certain when it is examined?

That is the yoga.

What is here is almost absurdly full.

An entire world can seem present. A life seems to stretch behind this moment. Other people seem unmistakably there. Distance, location, familiarity, memory, expectation, meaning and continuity are all here in the way this appears.

The whole thing is given with astonishing completeness.

More is present in this single appearing than could ever be finished describing.

And when you look for what any of it actually is, that certainty is remarkably difficult to establish.

What is here remains completely alive, completely specific, completely here.

And still: what the hell is this?

How I came to this

I’m Rob Matthews, a writer and workshop facilitator living in rural southern Spain.

I have spent many years with non-dual teachings, direct inquiry and Peter Brown’s work.

Peter’s work brought a precision I had not found elsewhere. Again and again it returned the whole question to what is actually here and what can actually be found.

This Radiant Space grew from that work.

The workshops, inquiries and writing are for people who want to investigate directly and find out for themselves.
